Signs of Bacterial Vaginosis
Posted byBV under Bacterial Vaginosis Treatment
There is really only one very distinct sign of bacterial vaginosis that is instantly recognizable and that women absolutely hate with good reason.
It is a fishy vaginal odor. if you have this embarrassing sign wafting up to your nose then you know you have BV.
This symptom can strains relationships and makes life generally difficult for any woman that has it.
Now not all women who have bacterial vaginosis will have this symptom. In fact, half of all women with BV do not show any signs at all or will show a mix of symptoms.
Here is a list of the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis to be on the lookout for.
Fishy vaginal odor
Vaginal itching
Abnormal discharge
Burning around the vagina or during urination
Pain during sex
General tenderness or soreness around the vagina
Note: the fishy vaginal odor may show up more strongly after unprotected sex or during your period.
Most women will attempt well meaning but incorrect methods of trying to rid themselves of the fishy odor.
They will try washing and scrubbing of course, thinking it has something to do with how clean or unclean they are. This is completely wrong.
They may try douches that also will not help and may be part of the problem or make the infection worse by driving it deeper into areas that can affect fertility.
The unfortunate problem with most of the symptoms is that they could also be related to any one of several other problems such as a yeast infection.
If you do not know what problem you have you cannot treat it properly. A yeast infection is not treated the exact same way as BV.
While you can find plenty of over the counter products to treat a yeast infection the same does not hold true for treatment of bacterial vaginosis.
