Why Chemical Skin Care Damage is a Danger to You

Skin care products have numerous chemicals included as ingredients, and many of these are less safe than we might think. Isopropyl alcohol is one of the most often used compounds. This is an irritant, and it makes the skin extremely dry. Manufacturers add this to their formulas even though it creates a lot of skin damage. Any time your skin is dried to this degree it is easy for bacterial, fungal or viral infections to appear.

Propylene based ingredients are extracted from petroleum and this can produce premature aging and discoloration in the skin. These types of substances are not the only problems that have been noted. There are others that can irritate the skin and worsen skin sensitivities. Colorings and dyes such as C, D and F are also petroleum products and they are all skin irritants.

Yet another example is mineral oil. It has long been used for skin care; unfortunately it is a petroleum by-product that will coat the skin very much like plastic, thereby clogging the pores with whatever is held under the plastic coating. It also interferes heavily with the skin’s elimination of toxins. This in turn encourages acne and other skin disorders.

Further, it slows down cell development, as well as skin function and unfortunately also causes premature aging. The use of petrolatum, another product of mineral oil, grows steadily in skin products because it is easy to make and also incredibly cheap.

The biggest problem is, of course, that none of us are chemists or chemistry research specialists, and thus we do not know what all those long words may mean when we read them on various labels of supposed ‘natural’ skin care products. It’s unfortunate that we can’t all be dermatologists.

Of course you need to use skin care products to protect and nurture your skin, but many of these formulas are worsening your problems. Many of the creams and lotions contain chemicals that are damaging and are promoting the development of wrinkles, discolorations, age spots, fine lines and blemishes. You need to be careful and make sure that you are providing your skin with quality care not creating more issues in the process.

Look at the package labels and make sure that the ingredients listed are really natural, organic substances. Today there are some wonderful skin care products available that are created without harsh chemicals and other toxins. You can let your voice be heard by supporting these types of products and the companies that produce them. Refusing to buy and use dangerous skin care formulas is the best way to express your displeasure.

The important fact to remember is that skin products with toxic elements must be eliminated and replaced with those that are made from completely natural and safe ingredients. These types of products will list organic herbs, essential oils and other botanical ingredients on their labels. Using these truly natural skin care preparations will prevent premature aging and protect your skin against the other worrisome skin problems that are continuing to increase among today’s population.
